Clifton Edition Limited is a small independent music publishing company based in Bristol, run by Mark and Pat Goddard. The company was founded in 2023 and specialises in educational classical music. Many of the titles were previously published by Spartan Press, European Archive, Jot-a-Note or Phylloscopus Publications.

On the birth of Clifton Edition, March 2023...
Mark and Pat Goddard are thrilled to announce the birth of a new music publishing company: Clifton Edition Limited. Dedicated to rescuing important titles made unavailable by the sad demise of Spartan Press. Exclusive distribution started in May 2023 thanks to our friends Stainer and Bell.
All titles are immaculately re-engraved in traditional concert size, (9“ x 12“) and printed to the highest standards by celebrated music specialist printers Halstan or Caligraving.
We have been humbled by overwhelming support from a wide range of music industry stalwarts and are fervently undergoing an urgent and ambitious publishing schedule. We have contributions from many of the major composers of the old Spartan empire including Alan Bullard, Mark Tanner, Bryan Kelly, Julian Lloyd Webber, Paul Harris and many others.
This new website will present our new catalogue as it unfolds. Rome wasn’t built in a day and it’ll take some time and a lot of investment, but we feel exited to be back in the game again after a five year “hoax retirement”!
